In the fall of 2000 – the year of the millennium – I decided to follow a dream. I took a leap of faith and opted to travel full time. My destination was South East Asia – Thailand in particular – because it held many fond memories. My personal quest for a simpler, yet challenging lifestyle opened the doors to an incredibly rewarding exploration of myself and this wonderful world we call home.
Opportunities which never seemed to materialize in the west became reality. Thailand offered me organic vegetarian cooking classes, meditation and cycling. India, the art of patience, stone carving, body surfing, poise, shell painting and a look at poverty at its zenith. Sri Lanka, its ethereal sunsets, tantalizing curd and a trek that tested my limits. Nepal, a historically rich culture, as well as Tongba and Momo's. Myanmar, modes of transportation that made me question "what am i doing?” intricate folk art and smiling faces in a country so oppressed. Indonesia, sylvan at my doorsteps, incredible sea life, snorkelling, monitor lizards and a case of dysentery.
Malaysia, offered an understanding of the phrase "east meets west", and stunning colonial architecture. And, Singapore, brought a deep appreciation for air conditioning as well as a chance to see the home of the quintessential "Singapore Sling".
All of them gave me bustling, hectic, colourful markets, aromatic mouth-watering delicacies, complex cultures, squat toilets, exuberant artistic heritage, and a beautiful, liberating, all-out assault on my senses and newfound friendships I will cherish forever.
In the fall of 2007 - I answered another call and decided to try my hand at painting even though I have no formal training. The rest is history.

Painting liberates me. It allows me the freedom to experiment, to search, to play, to express who I am, how I feel and what I need to say without uttering a single word!
With each new work, I sit outside the box, often on the edge, pushing buttons, testing my limits and ultimately seeing how far I can reach.
I am influenced by beauty and this is reflected in my choice of colours; strong, bold, rich and vibrant. Preconceived notions, taboo's, chaos, isms, and injustices fuel my darker works reflecting the blacks, blues and reds-my macabre side! My new found love is the spectrum of brilliant greens, the colour of growth.
The titles of my works are integral to my process - I consider them part and parcel of completing every piece.
